First edition. (3), [2]-48pp. 5 x 8-1/8 inches. Disbound with a half-title. On the resignation of W. Pitt, first Earl of Chatham, from the office of secretary of state in 1761. N******** = Newcastle.

Our copy is not dated but probably a 1761 first edition as there is a similar titled copy with more pages (55pp) and that copy is presumed a later edition.
Concerns the peace negotiations going on then, and the importance of retaining Canada, some of the West India islands, and the Newfoundland fishery. The taking of the Mississippi basin would be of little cost, less than that of Belleisle, and would secure the British position at the bargaining table for the peace treaty. The resignation referred to was that of William Pitt.
On the resignation of W. Pitt, first Earl of Chatham, from the office of secretary of state in 1761.
The Seven Years War was a global conflict which ran from 1754 until 1763 and pitted a coalition of Great Britain and its allies against a coalition of France and its allies. The war escalated from a regional conflict between Great Britain and France in North America, known today as the French and Indian War.
