The series relates the dramatic travails of one family in the British gentry, the Forsytes. The series was adapted to film first in the 1920s as a silent movie, then multiple times for television through the succeeding decades, most recently in 2003. The saga was continued by Forsyte in sequels covering the adventures of related families, thought these books are considered tangental to the main series.
