Novara, Italy: Instituto Geographico de Agostini, 1939. Hardcover. Very good. Folio (42 cm), pp. [6], 7 - 518, [8: index]. Grey/cream textured boards with red titling and design. Buckram quarter cloth. Decorative endpapers. Profusely illustrated throughout with Da Vinci's paintings, sculptures, drawings, studies and scientific inventions. Text in Italian. Minor foxing to buckram and edge wear to boards. From the collection of Dr. William J. Kerr (1889-1965), professor and chair of the UCSF Department of Medicine and founder of the Gold-Headed Cane Society. "Giorgio Nicodemi was an Italian museologist, essayist and art historian. He was born in Trieste on May, 29 1891 and dided in Milan on June 9, 1967. In 1919, he became a director of the Civici Musei of Brescia and of the Biblioteca Queriniana, where Nicodemi remained until 1928. In 1928, he became a director of the Civici Musei of Milan, including museums of the Castello Sforzesco.
