Limited to 5000 copies. 354 pages, Illustrated with [73] leaves of color and black and white plates. index, includes also includes several facsimile documents and letters bound in. French text. The Legion of Honor was instituted in 1802 by Napoleon. This volume was to honor the Chevalerie [Knights]. Inserted is a copy of the award to the honoree who was presented this volume. Bound in 3/4 maroon morocco over red silk covered boards, raised bands, title gilt within one compartments 5 other compartments decorated in gilt, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers, rub mark to upper board and a few minor scratches to lower board. A very nice clean copy.
