Boards rubbed at top and bottom edges, bumped at corners; top edge toned. Endpapers lightly spotted and irregularly toned (from publisher's glue offset). Jacket well-rubbed all over, at all edges and corners; top edge of jacket and tail of spine chipped and creased. Jacket toned and dust-soiled. Jacket price-clipped.

Heavy chipping to both ends of spine. Moderate sunning to spine and around edges of boards. Gilt design on front board still full and vivid. Minor scuffing on bottom edge of textblock. Previous owner's name on front endpaper. Old bookstore sticker on rear pastedown with price of 3.00. Lawrence's opinions and artistic preferences earned him a controversial reputation; he endured contemporary persecution and public misrepresentation of his creative work throughout his life, much of which he spent in a voluntary exile that he described as a "savage enough pilgrimage". Edited by Richard Aldington and Giuseppe Orioli; intro. by RA. A very good copy with light fraying to edges, with bright interior; in a soiled dust jacket with edgewear, spine-toned else bright and very good (price-clipped) (in removable protective archival cover). A much nicer than usual copy.
