Wien: Anton Scholl & Co, 1942. Hardcover. Good/Good-. 36 pages of text followed by 74 plates, some in color, plus 3 color plates tipped in. Cloth-backed paper-covered boards. Water-stained at foot of spine with boards slightly cupped. Lightly soiled dustjacket has a large chip at top of front panel affecting the title but not the illustration. From the library of Charles Bell, writer, poet, and Rhodes scholar. Bell's Greenville, Mississippi childhood included classmates Walker Percy and Shelby Foote. His first novel, The Married Land, Houghton Mifflin, 1962, was praised by William Carlos Williams. Bell's work includes three volumes of poetry, two novels, and an audio-visual opus, "Symbolic History." Text is in German.
