About This Item
London: Lund Humphries, 2002. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Brown hardcover with title in silver on spine. Condition: Very good, binding sound. This book was deacessioned from the library of the art dealer Offer Waterman and Co. and bears a discreet circular blindstamp hand-numbered in the centre to the lower right of the front endpaper. This was the first book to be published on the artist Kenneth Rowntree (1915-1997), a significant figure in the history of British art and design. His art was closely bound to the event of his time. The Second World War linked the artist to govenment policy, demanding a genre that celebrated a British life-style then at risk and also a public art of communal experience and shared values..
