Translated from French by John Howe, the book by the journalist author reconstructs the complicated and dramatic course of the Greek civil war and the central role played by the guerrilla chiefs, called kapetanios, who organised the partisans in the Greek mountains. Black cloth with gilt titling and publisher's mark on the spine, a detailed black and white map of Greece on fontispiece, list of abbreviations on the page facing the Forword page and nine pages of black and white photographs. 381 pages. Some rubbing to front and back, minor edge wear, internally clean with a tight text block. Pictorial dust jacket is in a new protective Brodart cover, sunned on spine and leading edges, small chipping to the top and bottom of the spine and light edgewear.
