1849. Steel-engraving with original hand-colouring. 160mm by 245mm (sheet). Mid 19th century French depiction of kangaroos from Dictionaire Universel d'Histoire Naturelle, c1849, a French natural history series reknown for the superb quality of the plates. Edouard Travies is regarded as one of the great French natural history artists of the 19th century. CONDITION : Trimmed along text at the top of the sheet. A few tiny specks in the paper.
