About This Item
Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery. 1978. First edition.. Trade paperback. Good. moderate shelfwear,. Includes illustrations. . Well known for his California-inspired Asian work (or his Asian-inspired California work), the artist studied with both Leger and Kuniyoshi. Besides the black and whites, four color plates (one a double in the center) plus color cover convey the unique quality of Kanemitsu's watercolor technique. Rather than the muddle most abstract watercolors present, his "Birth of Black Moon" (Sumi and watercolor on paper, 1972) is pulsing with color and form. Includes brief biography, lists of solo and group exhibitions and public collections, plus a selected bibliography. .
