About This Item
(No-place: Crossroad Health Ministry, 1993). First edition. Paperback original; the only edition, SIGNED BY MASSON on title page. Her first book of poetry. Preceded only by INTERNATIONAL NURSING (1981), non-fiction written while nursing director at the global health initiative, Project Hope. The 17 poems herein arose from Masson's work as a family nurse practitioner and director of a small, inner-city clinic in Washington (co-founded by Masson and Hall, a doctor). She calls her years there her "most tumultuous and remarkable" ones when, "[l]ike Langston Hughes's character, Sister Mary, I got my feet caught in the 'sweet flypaper of life.'" Her other books of poetry include REHAB AT THE FLORIDA AVENUE GRILL (1991) and CLINICIAN'S GUIDE TO THE SOUL (2008). Her NINTH STREET NOTEBOOK: VOICE OF A NURSE IN THE CITY (2001) "contains stories, lessons and reflections from the ragged edge of the real world of nursing and health care." Oblong off-white stapled paperwraps measuring approximately 9.75 x 7.25"; illustrated with sepia-toned photo on front, rear cover blank; 28 pp. Fine. Quite scarce.
