Das ist: ein in zwey Theil verfastes, und denen Juden zur Erkanntnuß des wahren Glaubens vorgesteltes Buch ... ... Brünn : Maria Barb. Swobodin, 1741 (title and preliminaries printed in Znaim by Anton Johann Preyss, 1743) + Der anderte Theil der judischen Augen-Gläser. Ausgezogen aus dem ersten Theil des Entdeckten Judenthums Joannis Eisenmenger ... ... König-Gratz ob der Elbe : gedruckt bey Wentzl Johann Tibelli, 1743. First edition. Two volumes bound in one, folio (320 x 215 mm), contemporary calf (boards a little scuffed), spine in compartments with stamped title-piece; front pastedown with the ex libris of Hungarian bibliophile Joannes Szász LL.D; title page in red and black; pp. [14], 513; [6], 307, [1], 427, [1]; with 6 allegorical copper-engraved plates (one folding) illustrating Jewish customs; head- and tailpieces, decorative initials; text in German in blackletter Gothic, in double columns; occasional spotting, frequent browning in the second part, else clean; binding firm; a very appealing copy in a contemporary binding. Elias Libor Roblik (1689, Křečkovice -1765, Vienna) was a Catholic theologian and Orientalist. In his principal work, Jüdische Augen-Gläser, he addresses perceived aberrations in the Jewish faith, without - unlike many of his contemporaries - descending to the use of direct insults. The second volume contains an excerpt from Johann Eisenmenger's infamous anti-Judaic tract Entdecktes Judenthum (=Judaism unmasked), here in print once again after it had been briefly banned throughout the Holy Roman Empire by Leopold I. Wurzbach XXVI, 212. Not in Furst or Knihopis.
