No owner inscrptn and no price-clip (£18.99) to dw/dj.Bright,clean but creased, glossy, laminated wrap-around red background with subject's superimposed full portrait colour photographic illustrated front of dw/dj,with capitalised,yellow-lettered JPR at start of title remainder of same in white lettering as is his name,spine/backstrip with similarly coloured+lettered title+author as the front and publisher's capitalised white-lettered+illustrated colophon +name to foot of same, rear panel with subject's portrait colour photograph. Some minimal shelf-wear,bumping, creasing to edges and corners; body of dw/dj panels with wrinkles, creases and superficial scoring without penetration to boards beneath - but no major tears or splits present.Top edges with some minimal foxing/ spotting,fore-edges with a small indeterminate blemish at its top edge but remainder fairly bright and clean; contents bright, tight, clean and solid - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corner tips, appears unread apart from my own collation.Publisher's slightly blemished,sharp-cornered,original plain yellow cloth boards with bright, crisp, blocked yellow lettering to a vertical white panel to spine/backstrip,and clean plain white endpapers. UK,8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn,viii-xvpp+1-256pp [paginated] includes verso of Contents list/table,Acknowledgements with photograph credits to its reverse,a Foreword by John Dawes, subject's Introduction,20 chapters and a Conclusion,16pp contemporary b/w+colour biographical photographs in 2 blocks of 8pp apiece, between pp80/81 and pp160/61 respectively,Test career for British and Irish Lions,Cap career for Wales, and an Index; plus [unpaginated] half-title+title pages,a dedication and recto of Contents list/table. Visually the exterior appearance is acceptable, and even internally, the book is also in an aceptable condition/state of preservation and presentation. It is only the exterior faults described that prevents a slightly higher overall grading.Despite these,it really is stil a more than acceptable example for its internal cleanliness and as a biography of an iconic Welsh rugby player. JPR Williams won his first cap for Wales in 1969,and until his retirement in 1981 was the mainstay of Welsh teams that won six Triple Crowns, three Grand Slams and six Five Nations Championships. Renowned for his power and bravery on the pitch, JPR is a hero to the Welsh and a respected icon of the rugby world. He relives his early rugby career and remembers the most exciting matches of his playing days, both for Wales and for the British and Irish Lions, including the 1971 win against the All Blacks - the only time the Lions have ever beaten New Zealand in a series - a team in which he was an integral player.
