About This Item
London: Eyre and Spottiswoode, 1952. First edition. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. 8" by 5.5". None. The first edition of this first novel from Paul Scott. Scott published a collection of three religious poems under the title I, Gerontius in 1941, but his writing career began in earnest with his first novel Johnny Sahib. In a cloth binding with original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart, with only some bumping. Dustwrapper is sound, though with some chipping and handling marks, along with several closed tears. Internally, firmly bound. Front endpaper has been removed. Pages are bright and clean, with just the occasional mark. Very Good
