A tight, generally fine example, touch of qwrinkling ot the front cloth, small, light lower corner stain to the frontis portrait; the laid in frontis tissue guard is present but is someaht ragged along one edge. Sir John Hare (1844-1921) was a Yorkshire, England-born actor and theatre manager> His stage debut was in 1864 in Liverpool and his London stage debut followed a year later; in 1865 he became a member of the Prince of Wales company. He was best known both in the UK and the U.S. for his characterizations and excelled in comedic roles. This biography concentrates on Hare's fame and accomplishments both on stage and as theatre manager (most notably of the St. James beginning in1878 and the Garrick Theatre in the West End beginning in 1889). He was knighted in 1907.
