London: William Heinemann Ltd., 1957. 1st. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 222 pages. Hardcover. B/w illustrations throughout. Gilt title on spine. Dust jacket unclipped, has some age tanning, soil, in protective Brodart. Pages clean, edges have some tanning and some foxing on top edge. Binding tight. John Grant was sentenced to death, then transportation for life in Australia, for shooting a lawyer in the "hams'. This recounts his trial, survival of the journey to Australia (in the early days of that colony) and his life there and on Norfolk island until he was pardoned in 1811. Record # 31242
