Dr. David Berger is considered one of leading scholars in the field of medieval Jewish-Christian relations. He taught at Brooklyn College and is presently the dean of Jewish Studies at Yeshiva University. Dr. Berger's professional training as a historian has lead him to become involved in modern day Jewish-Christian dialogue. More controversially, he has opposed the Chabad Lubavitch movement, authoring The Rebbe, the Messiah and the Scandal of Orthodox Indifference, arguing for the movement's wholesale excommunication on account of having abandoned what he sees as the traditional Jewish position that the Messiah cannot be from the dead.
