Atlanta: Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, 2008. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. Wide hardbound quarto. 70 pp. Foreword by Kay Kallos. Essay by Stuart Horodner and with additional text by Whitten himself alongside Stacie Lindner. Published on the occasion of a 2008 exhibition in Atlanta. A near fine copy in illustrated boards. Issued without dustwrapper. African American artist who passed away in 2018. He was an accomplished abstract impressionist whose works are held by many major institutions and whose paintings are now being sold in the millions of dollars. This copy comes from the library of art critic Dore Ashton. Whitten briefly INSCRIBED this copy to her on the title page. A rare signature to be sure.
