The first edition of this work, with text both in English and in French. One of Graham Greene's final works, in which he openly accuses the government of Nice of protecting judicial and police corruption, allowing for the flourishing of organised crime in the city. This pamphlet provoked a libel lawsuit that Greene lost, but after his death, the former mayor of Nice, Jacques Médecin, was imprisoned for corruption and associated crimes.Graham Greene was a leading English writer and journalist of the twentieth century. He was shortlisted twice for the Nobel Prize for Literature.Complete with unclipped dust wrapper. With occasional in text illustration. In the original publisher's wraps. Externally very smart with only minor sunning to upper edge front wrap. Dust wrapper with minor shelf wear, light spotting to wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
