Octavo; pp; viii, (ii), 214; embossed blue cloth lettered in green in a unclipped pictorial dust jacket;. First printing of this edition, reissued by Viking in 1962 with a new introduction by Greene; who explains why this book was eventually republished. He found after rereading the first edition which was first published 28 years earlier in 1934, he didn't care much for parts he had written and made changes. An intriguing novel of characters swept up in events that have a life of their own.

Synopsis

Graham Greene (1904-1991) worked as a journalist and critic, and was later employed by the foreign office. His many books include The Third Man , The Comedians and Travels with My Aunt . He is the subject of an acclaimed three-volume biography by Norman Sherry.
