Good+ with no dust jacket; Hardcover; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; Includes BONUS BOOK; see below. 190 pages, bound in thick card covers with brown border design, green & brown printing. 24 full-page colour plates of paintings by the author, including frontis; one map of the islands. The Isles of Scilly are the most southern outpost of England -- still considered part of Cornwall -- and well known for their cut flower production.. Jessie Mothersole is also the author and illustrator of related history books including Hadrian's Wall, The Saxon Shore, In Roman Scotland, and Agricola's Road into Scotland. Cover clean, on the whole, with one small water stain on front cover. Design & lettering bright & intact. Moderate rubbing on edges, corners lightly bumped. Front board slightly bowed. Solid binding with thick card covers. Interior clean with light to moderate foxing on margins of text pages. Lovely colour plates and their pages are bright, clean, and absent any foxing. Previous owner's name & date of 1914 written in ink on front endpaper. Edges of text block also show light foxing. BONUS BOOK: Island Camera: The Isles of Scilly in the Photography of the Gibson Family, by John Arlott; David & Charles, 1983, hardcover. Near Fine book in Near Fine jacket. ; Packaged with care. .
