Inscribed to the New York editor and bon vivant John Ferrone, long associated with Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, where he edited the multivolume Letters and Diaries of Virginia Woolf, the Diaries of Anaïs Nin, and the HBJ paperback program. He was also editor of Alice Walker and Eudora Welty, and a long-time personal friend of James Beard, whose posthumous work he edited, and who worked with Terry on an earlier book, "Ballet".
