Rochdale: Orphan's Press, [1920]. First edition. Pamphlet. Very Good. 3 3/4 x 6 inches. 16 page saddlestitched pamphlet with covers. With imprimatur dated 20 May 1920 of the Bishop of Dunkeld, Scotland (John Toner). Covers detached from text. Pages uniformly toned. Margins chipped and torn with losses of a few letters at the top foremargin of three leaves. Jean-Jacques Olier (1608-1657) was a French Catholic priest and the founder of the Sulpicians. He helped to establish the Société Notre-Dame de Montréal, which organized the settlement of the colony of New France, now eastern Canada. This work, for (mostly) English-speaking Catholics in Scotland is based upon the translation by M. L Abbe Bacquez, the Director of the Seminary of St. Sulpice in Paris. A very scarce work.
