Bound in violet coloured cloth, with dw, 47 b/w plates, 2 maps and diagrams, 349pp. "After a brief outline of the conditions in France between 1715 and 1789 there follows a sketch of economic and social history in this period to the meeting of the Estates-General in 1789, laying particular stress on the so-called "aristocratic revolt" and its gradual undermining of absolutism. The last chapter summarizes the changes wrought by the Revolutionary and Napoleonic period. Ex-library but with new endpapers, tape residue marks on boards.
