New York: Harper & Brothers. Very Good- in Very Good- dust jacket. 1951. Hardcover. Square 4to 9" - 11" tall; 164 pages; 1951 Harper & Brothers. HC/DJ. Presumably the 2nd printing of the American edition, still using sheets printed in Great Britain, with no sytatement of printing but lacking any letter on the copyright or title pages. Soundly bound and generally clean in original pictorial dust jacket with publisher's $2.50 issue price intact to unclipped front flap. Though without his usual ownership stamp, this copy from the personal library of Luis Freile, credited with the 1st commercial atlas of the moon in his capacity as cartographer at Rand McNally. Freile's scattered light scholalrly marginalia in chapters 2 &3 relating to the gravcitational field of the earth and the force required by a rocket to escape that field etc. Dust jacket lightly toned surfaces and with light shelf rubbing, a few shallow nicks and short closed tears at edges. Illustrated with b&w photos, figures, graphs and diagrams. Clarke's early scientific musings on travel to the moon and beyond. VG-/VG- .
