About This Item
London: Collins, 1979. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good +/Very Good +. The interior of the book is clean and crisp. The author has autographed the title page, but there are no other marks or wear. The red voers are fresh, with just a touch of wear at tips and corners. The gilt spine lettering is still bright. The dust jacket is price-clipped, but is otherwise in excellent condtion, with no tears or damage. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: Inspector Ghote is "ordered off to a vast old house buried deep in the heat-soaked Indian countryside to protect an aged, unpopular and rigidly obstinate judge of the British Raj era, against whom death threats have been made. In the old house, itself still run in the routines of the Raj, Ghote soon finds that his chief opponent is not the unknown who has been leaving Justice Sir Asif Ibrahim threatening letters, but the formidable, iron-principled old judge himself.
