About This Item
Paris: GRUND, 1989 Another Fine Compilation Courtesy Of The Artia Publishing House In Prague. 1965, Edited By Vadimir Hulpach, And Translated Into French By Yvette Joye, Originally In 1980, Reprint. Very Lovely Full Colour And Two Colour Quite Modernist Interpretations Of Amerind Mythology. I'm Presuming That One Of The Up Sides Of The Socialist Regime Was That Artists Were Able To Work For A Living, As A Great Many Very Lovely Illustrated Books Were Produced In Czechoslovakia During This Era. (Although, A Quick Look At International Book Publishing: An Encyclopedia Suggests A Much Less Rosy Picture, Where Artia Was Simply A Means Of Control Over The Literary And Artistic Population And Their Work). Politics Aside, The Flowering Of Czech Visual Art During This Period Is Fortunately Frequently Available Via French And English Reprints Such As This One). This Is A Large And Heavy Book Which Will Require Extra Postage.
