NOT ex-library! Facsimile reprint of the original 1879 Paris edition, this is the indispensable guide to early Strassburg humanism, with special attention given to the scholar-printers of the period, including: Wimpheling (1450-1528), Sebastien Brant (1457-1521), Geiler de Kaysersberg (1445-1510), Pierre Schott, Sebastien Murr, Jodocus Gallus, Jacques Han, Jean Hugonis, Ulric Surgant, Thomas Wolf, Matthias Ringmann Philesius, Jean-Adelphus Muling, Thomas Vogler, Jerome Gebwiler, Ottmar Nachtgall, and Thomas Murner (1475-1537). There is an extensive 115-page bibliographical index which describes 356 works by 17 authors, and an index nominum.
Charles Schmidt was Professor Emeritus of the Faculte de Theologie at the Univ. Strasbourg, and was considered then -- as now -- the authority on the subject.
