Jose Raoul Capablanca (1888-1942) was a Cuban world champion chess player from 1921 to 1927. This biography of Capablanca includes tournament and match records details. Hardcover, red cloth over boards, 8vo. gold gilt and black titles on cover and spine. No jacket. Enclosed in page 35 is a newspaper clipping of the beginning of the matches between USA and Russian chess masters in the New York Roosevelt Hotel, June 16-23, 1954. Also included is a brief detail of that match. g+ (bumping to cover edges and both spine ends, water spots on spine, light dustsoiling, gilt to spine rubbed-series notation almost completely gone, cover sunnedand heavy wear on all edges. binding is tight and intact aside from slight cocking of boards) No dj. pp 238
