Black cloth with silver lettering, pictorial dust jackets (Volumes II-VI). 464pp; 460pp; 464pp; 464pp; 461pp; 496pp. Numerous illustrations, pictorial and map endpapers. Near fine/very good. Bit of mild jacket wear; first volume lacks jacket. Attractive and tight full set, mixed printings, of this large and heavy opus, each subtitled (in order, with printing noted): "Shadows of the Storm" (4th), "The Guns of '62" (5th), "The Embattled Confederacy" (4th), "Fighting for Time" (3rd), "The South Besieged" (1st) and "The End of an Era" (2nd). Front pastedown of first volume bears name/address label of noted Civil War medical collector/scholar and pediatric infectious disease specialist Dr. Ralph C. Gordon.
