About This Item

Chicago & London: University of Chicago Press, 1982. Discussion of the importance & scope of the work of the Bonfils family, Huguenots who moved to Beirut in 1876, where they founded an important photographic studio, traveling & photographing notable sites and scenes, but also ordinary people, throughout the near east. The book, one of the publisher's Visual Library Text-Fiche Series, includes commentary on family, their work, a family tree, chronologies, list of photos, ten micro-fiche sheets, most with 84 b/w images, 815 images in all, suitable for enlargement with a 20-24x lens, or some modern scanning devices. Hardcover, as pictured; no jacket, likely as issued. Light wear; text clean, no names or marks; xix, [3], 115 pages; appendixes, bibliography, notes, index, 10 michrofiche sheets in rear pocket, complete. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. Octavo.
