This item is in English and is in good condition with some wear to its covers and edges. The binding is tight and the book is complete with no loose pages. The pages have tanned over time and someone wrote (in pencil) the number 10 on the front end-page. This item is 8.5 inches tall by 5.75 inches wide. Both of these volumes appear to have the signature of Reverend Henry Hawkins Tremayne (1741–1829) See pictures. To be clear, this has not been certified. The Reverend Henry Hawkins Tremayne was credited as initiating the creation of the set of gardens around Heligan House that are now well known as the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Volume 2
Cover: Full calf brown panel boards with gold line boarder, chips and rubbing to all edges/corners and cracks appearing on outer hinges (although still attached). Spine gilt has been worn over time.
Binding: Good, text block appears to be inline and place.
Text: As to be expected from a book this age, acidification to pages. The front has a pull out map but one third has been removed and a cut from the top quarter of the title page has been taken.
Overall: This is a rare old book with a possible interesting provenance. always open to offers…

Rare original poetry book with cloth covered boards, copyright 1880 by J. W. Shoemaker & Co. This edition published in 1906 by the Penn Publishing company, Philadelphia. From the estate of my great-great grandfather.Includes many unique poems and recitations such as "To a skull", "Uncle Daniel's Introduction to a Mississippi Steamer", "The Leak in the Dyke", etc. More well-known poetry includes "Song of Birds", "Old Ironsides", and "Bannock Burn" by Robbie Burns. Light rubbing and bumps to outside spine edges. Back cover and interior cloth covered board has a stain at top. Original owner's name and address from 1908, but no other writing or marks. First 2 pages have a stain at top, but text of 192 pages of poetry and recitations is totally clean with light tanning of pages.

The author's non-linear poem about the billeting of soldiers in civilian homes in wartime. Copy 89 of a limited edition of 250.
