About This Item
Eyre Methuen, London, 1980. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Ronald Searle -- dust Jacket. Acknowledgements, introduction by selector, index of poets, index of first lines. Blue coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Colour illustrated dust jacket(wraparound), by Ronald Searle, with white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. The author, sorry the editor, has unusual qualifications for selecting the poems in this book. He is a politician. And at least he has the good taste to use W. H. Auden for the first poem, which gives the book its title. Softening of the back strip edges with a little rubbing of the book corners. Age toning of the text block edges and pages. Rubbing to the dustwrapper edges and panels with a 1 inch tear to the top left-hand corner of the front panel. Sunning of the back strip. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [12], 13 - 204, [4] pages,. Illustrator: Ronald Searle -- dust Jacket. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Poetry; Humour. ISBN: 041347500X. ISBN/EAN: 9780413475008.
