Light crease to the head corner of the first leaf.; Written in 1959 by famed Spanish painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso, this wide-ranging 'poem in parts' draws on Picasso's memories of his boyhood in Malaga, Spain. Each page in Spanish is followed by the same text in English. The Note to the Present Edition explains the origin and naming of the poem of the poem and is by Camila Jose Cela, Spanish poet, novelist, and acquaintance of Picasso. Translated from the Spanish by poet Paul Blackburn, who also provides a terse, humorous note. 6 1/4" x 5" and 39 pp. First published in 1961, the City Lights 1st American Edition appeared in 1968 and this is the 1969 2nd printing in an edition of 5000 printed photo offset by Edwards Brothers, Ann Arbor, MI. Perfect bound in stiff, mustard yellow, card stock covers printed in red. In clean, sharp, Near Fine condition.; Pocket Poets; 16mo 6" - 7" tall; 39 pages .
