Garden City: Doubleday, Doran & Co., Inc, 1935. First Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/very good. First edition of Hungry Men by Edward Anderson.. Octavo, 275pp. Tan cloth, title stamped in deep red on spine and front cover. Top edge stained red. Stated "first edition" on copyright page. Light toning to endpapers and top edge of cloth. "J" ink stamped on front pastedown endpaper. Clean text, no marks or notations. In publisher's first state dust jacket, retail price of $2.00 on front flap with "J" ink stamped over dollar sign, light shelf wear, chipping and tears to edges and corners, faint stains to interior of spine. A bright example of the author's first novel. The publisher awarded Anderson a $1,000 prize for Hungry Men, as "the best novel by an author who had appeared in Story [magazine].
