First edition of this groundbreaking investigation into the geysers, hot springs, mud pots, fumaroles and steam vents of Yellowstone National Park containing more than 10,000 of these features. These original investigations were encouraged by Yellowstone Superintendent Horace Albright who believed such studies to be vital to monitoring all of Yellowstone’s geophysical systems. Fresh off their Volcanic Activity and Hot Springs of Lassen Peak monograph, the two geologists were able to produce this extraordinary compilation of water chemistry and physical descriptions of the hydrothermal features and surrounding geology, filled with contemporary photographs of the Park.
