About This Item

London: Longmans, Green, and Co.. ** NEW EDITION, 1900 ** HARDCOVER ** NO DUSTJACKET ** NOT A LIBRARY BOOK ** CLEAN, TEXT UNMARKED ** ILLUSTRATED ** Published in London by Longmans, Green, and Co., 1900. NOTE: The photos you can access with this listing are of the actual book you will be sent. With 301 pages, but not included in the page count are the 53 full-page photographic plates. Book is dated 1900 on the title page, which is the same year as the 1st Edition, but nevertheless it states "New Edition" above that date on the title page. Well-made book, bound in heavy-duty cloth (buckram)-covered boards with embossed gilt lettering and designs on the front and spine. While the book has no major structural flaws, it does show signs of use and age. The cloth binding is sun-faded and the cloth binding is somewhat mottled/discolored from age, and there is some wear and tearing to the cloth at the top and bottom of the spine. There are previous owners' names and a gift inscription on the blank front page, and a very nice pre-printed previous owner's bookplate on the blank front pastedown. The book is otherwise clean and stain-free, square and straight, and is still firm in its binding, with no pages loose, torn, or missing. The hinges are sound and undamaged, the corner tips show a touch of wear, but the corners are have not been bumped. There is no writing, underlining, highlighting, or markings of any such kind in the text. All pages are clean and stain-free, and all text and all illustrations are present, sharp, and legible. Buy with confidence, professional booksellers for 35 years, selling books online since 1995. B12. . Good. Hardcover. New Edition. 1900.
