About This Item
The London Printing and Publishing Company, London 3 volumes bound in 2: 11" X 7 7/8" in cloth with leather spines and corners. Vol.1 - wear along spine edges, covers soiled, front hinge cracking, uneven foxing throughout (heavy in some places, Light in others, none at all elsewhere). Vol. 2 - soiled, front cover detached, but present, uneven foxing throughout. No date, but obviously mid-19th century. This has to be the difinitive history of the Crimean war. It is incredibly detailed. I count 64 very fine engraved illustrations, including several 2-page maps mounted on binder's hinges. Several of the maps are colored, and they have gorgeous small vignettes on the margins. Also interesting is a 34 page [!!!] chronology of events. Index. 384pp/140pp/338+40pp. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket.
