City of Moncton. Very Good in Very Good dust jacket. ©1965. Hardcover. 445 p. 23.5 cm. Sound and square binding in cloth-covered boards. Minor wear to the corner tips. Tiny corner crease to front endpaper and two preliminary pages. Inscription on the front free endpaper. Inside pages are clean and unmarked. The dust jacket has some wear to the spine ends and edges, including a chip, some tiny tears and creases. There are drip marks on the spine ends. Rubbed, with some scratches. A history of the city of Moncton, New Brunswick covering the first 110 years since it was incorporated. Map illustrated endpapers. This copy has an inscription gifting the book to Sir James Pitman from the City and local Board of School Trustees in 1969. Pitman was a British businessman, civil servant, publisher, politician and spelling reformer, and the grandson of Sir Isaac Pitman of shorthand fame. Pitman was closely involved in the theory of teaching children to write the English language. .
