A complete five volume set of Macaulay's esteemed History of England. Tenth Edition.Thomas Babington Macaulay was a British historian and Whig politician who served as secretary for War between 1839 and 1841. His History of England is a seminal example of Whig history and is still commended for its prose style. The History of England covers the seventeen year period from 1685 to 1702, encompassing the reign of James II, the Glorious revolution, the coregency of William III and Mary II and up to William the III's death. The first and third volumes have twenty four pages of adverts to the rear and volume five has twenty six adverts to the rear.The first and second volumes were published in 1854, the third and fourth in 1855 and the fifth volume was published in 1861. All volumes are in full brown cloth binding. Externally, very smart with a few light marks to the spines and boards. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
