(31 tinted litho plates in total, painted by T.J. Rawlngs, B. Solwyn, B. Clayton, J. Pollard, G. F. Sargent). Numerous text illustrations. Contemporary half calf. Spine in six compartments with gilt tooling and raised bands, gilt rules and blind tooling to boards. Marbled endpapers, all edges marbled. Blue silk bookmark. Corners lightly rubbed. Minor dent (from elastic band) to top edge of upper board. Small tear at attachment of frontispiece. Lacking the title page. Occasional light offsetting. Plates and text crisp and bright. A handsome volume.
