Gorringe : illustrated throughout including 13 portraits and 10 fold-out maps : foreword by the Viscount Esher, G.C.B., G.C.V.O., P.C. : red cloth boards with gilt embossed design framed in 2 gilt borders to top board : gilt to spine.

Edges foxed; endpapers foxed and toned and occasional foxing throughout; spine faded; head and tail of spine pushed; sewn part of hinge exposed between maps ix and x; hinge slightly separated at pages 96 and 241; fold-out maps appear to have been rarely opened.
