London: Archibald Constable. 1899. First edition, limited to 250 copies. Original cloth boards with the photograph onlay of a Highlander. 72 plates including one double, pp xvi, 176. A handpainted colour depiction of a Highland regiment tipped in to the second free endpaper. Three nineteenth-century printed images of Highlanders with captions in German tipped in. Related ephemera loosely inserted,, including research articles on Highand military dress . With the bookplate of C.A. Cuthbert Keeson (author of "Queen Victoria's Rifles") and two handwritten letters to Keeson from John Monsey Collyer of Hackford Hall in Norfolk. Cloth boards very faded. Rubbed to top edges of spine. Good condition. Scarce. History of the uniforms and weaponry of Scotland's Highland soldiers, with related ephemera. Limited Ed..
