A 1976 later printing of volume twelve in Anthony Powell's marvelous A Dance to the Music of Time series. Volume wrapped in jacket with an illustration of a nighttime scene by Broom-Lynne. --- A tightly-bound, unmarked, sound copy but with whitish discoloration to inside edges of cloth (possibly caused by a chemical reaction to binder's glues). Dust jacket with £3.75 net flap price sticker near clipped flap, moderate darkening to spine, and with light chafing at spine ends, otherwise remaining bright and intact and wrapped in removable archival mylar protector.; 12mo - 7 to 7-1/2 in. tall; (8), 272 pages .
Synopsis
Hearing Secret Harmonies is the final novel in Anthony Powell's twelve-volume masterpiece, A Dance to the Music of Time. It was published in 1975 to the relief of an audience that had grown steadily over the twenty-four years since the first book, A Question of Upbringing appeared in 1951. Completing his meditation upon the themes of time and will, the author recounts the narrative in the voice of a convincingly middle-aged Jenkins.
