Top edge gilt. Frontispiece portrait of Fabre d'Olivet. In this remarkable work Fabre d'Olivet is shown as a humanitarian who heals Rudolphe Grivel, a congenital mute. It is the story of this healing, together with the jealousies, calumnies and persecutions which followed this amazing deed. Written during the fascinating time of Napoleon's reign. Minor shelf wear.
