VERY GOOD. Shows marginal shelf rubbing along the edges, boards lightly handled, former owner name at the front free endpaper, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text and illustrations are clean and unmarked, and the boards remain bright and distinct. As pictured.

Includes 56 full page plates, containing over one hundred half-tone reproductions from photographs, with border decorations. Folding map. Most likely first edition with date on the title page. Red illustrated cloth binding with Hawaiian surfer. Binding has edge and corner wear, slight spotting. Book now protected in new mylar. No former owner's names or marks. The front free end paper is missing. Book is solid, square, and tight. Pages are very clean. Published soon after annexation by the United States in 1897. A scarce copy.
