Pp. x+364(last blank)+x+372, 24 coloured plates (frontispiece with tissue guard both volumes), the vignettes at title, contents, and list of illustrations printed in red & black, numerous black & white text illustrations; med. 8vo; red cloth, lettered and decorated in gilt, slightly soiled and worn, with a couple of small damp spots and bubbles to cloth of upper board Volume I, the corners bruised, spines faded, Volume I snagged at crown; t.e.g., others uncut, Volume II partly unopened; hinges starting, free endpapers offset, a few tiny edge chips, scattered foxing; Edward Arnold, London, n.d.[1912]. First trade edition with these illustrations.
