About This Item

New York: Harper & Bros, 1944. Very good (black cover fabric shows spots on back, a few on front) in very good- dust jacket (edgeworn, especially at spine and lower front corner, price folded down but not clipped). See scans. Hurst was very popular as a novelist in the 1920s and into the post-world-war-II period. She was often derided as overly sentimental, but 32 films were adapted from her fiction, undoubtedly contributing to her popularity. This novel comes from the post-war period, late in her life, and focuses on Lily Brown, motherless yet sympathetic to others. 431 pages. . 1st Edition. Hard Cover.
