Original acorn twig end papers repeating the theme of the book. viii + 328 pp + 4 pp publisher's lists + 44 page Catalogue for Oct 1891. Frontis steel engraving by Whymper + 262 other illustrations some fulll page but mostly in text. Eighth Edition 1891.Please see our images of the actual book offered for sale for further details and condition. Good - moderate shelf wear and soiling to cloth - mainly colour rubbing to spine edges, gilt to spine a little dulled, end papers starting , mull and sewing holding, offset browning to free end papers, light foxing to reverse of free end papers and to reverse of frontis. Remainder of book block respectably clean. Dust soiling to top edge of book block and a few leaves roughly opened where not guillotined in course of book production. No previous owner name, insc. nor annotations. No other notable defects).
