A. L. HENDRIKS, Jamaican poet [1922-1992]. *This collection was the first of Walcott's poems to be issued in England. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1992.

Walcott went on to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1992 and is best known for his Omeros (1990), an epic poem retelling the Homeric legends in a modern Caribbean setting.
